About

Micheline Brière, known as MichBie, first made a name for herself in the music world after earning her diploma in music. However, another form of artistic expression beckoned: painting. Self-taught, she began exploring this new medium with boldness and boundless passion.

It was old barn wood that captured her attention and imagination. This living material, whose deep veins dictate the gesture and enrich the texture of her works, immediately resonated with her. She devoted many hours to developing a unique technique to tame this raw material, integrating it as an essential element of her creative process.

Her story

For MichBie, each subject and each technique represent a new opportunity to translate emotion in all its forms. His artistic approach is based on constant exploration, not as a distraction, but as a relentless quest for sincerity. Each of his works is a faithful and unique reflection of human experiences, shifting and deeply personal.

MichBie's approach is free from convention. She creates in an intuitive dialogue with the material and the moment, leaving the viewer free to interpret and connect with her works. Figurative art and nature are her main sources of inspiration; noble materials, such as old wood, attract her; the universe and animals come to life in her works.

Over the years, MichBie's talent has been recognized at several major exhibitions. She has notably participated in the Symposium des Galeries St-Hyacinthe and the Symposium des Arts de Bromont, where her work has been widely appreciated.

Despite her accomplished career, MichBie has never sought accolades or awards. She creates simply because she can't imagine doing otherwise. However, visitors to her exhibitions cannot help but be moved by her ability to communicate deep feelings through her art.

Ultimately, MichBie's goal is to evoke emotion through her art. Every brushstroke, every color choice, every texture is an invitation to feel and interact with the work. For her, art is a universal language that has the power to touch each of us, regardless of our background or history. It is this emotional exchange, this human connection, that motivates MichBie to continue creating and sharing her work with the world.

Artistic approach

I am a self-taught artist working under the name MichBie, who paints primarily in oils, while also exploring acrylics and faux stained glass. My approach is distinguished by the use of old barn wood, a living material whose deep veins dictate the gesture and enrich the texture of my works. I have developed a unique technique for taming this raw material, integrating it as an essential element of my creative process.

My approach is based on constant exploration, not as a distraction, but as a search for artistic sincerity. Each subject, each technique is for me a way of expressing emotion in all its forms, like human experiences: unique, changing, and deeply personal.

Freed from conventions, I create in an intuitive dialogue with the material and the moment, leaving the viewer the freedom to interpret and connect with my works.
